Philly...is lcol?
1600 for a studio does not sound LCOL at all, I’d expect at least 1 bedroom
Chief
If you want to live in an area of atlanta where you won’t get murdered, it certainly is not LCOL lol
Chief
Yeah, but Murder Kroger will forever live on in our hearts ♥️
I’m from Philly area. Depending on where you want to live in the city (and believe me, you want to avoid certain areas) the rent/buying houses/apartments is not cheap compared to cost of living. But agree, we have some great options for dining out that have friendly prices.

Comparing to super HCOL cities doesn’t make any sense. Maybe if you want to live in north Philly you can consider it LCOL, but your life expectancy is cut in half.
Chief
Uh all of those cities are MCOL
Also gotta factor in having a car in these places which is a pretty large expense.
In ATL, I think rent is cheaper bc everything is more spread out so there are a few popular areas depending on what you’re looking for but I don’t think the demand in a single spot is super crazy. No matter where you live, you’re going to regularly venture out of your area and drive a good bit
Yeah it seems like there are a lot of vacancies in my friends buildings in ATL so that’s probably why prices are so low
Maybe 10 years ago those places are becoming expensive now too

Welcome to, I dunno, the rest of the United States?
People on FB have such a narrow-minded view of what the broader US is like
I lived in other parts of the country (NYC, DMV, ATX, Chicago) and recently visited those places for the first time and found that there were so much less expensive than what I had thought they would be COL wise
Chief
Lol, Charlotte’s gone up in pricing. 😑

Philly is definitely not LCOL nor is ATL unless we are just choosing anywhere to live
Drinks and dinner in Atlanta is like $50,drinks at bars are $9-12. Housing is under $1600
