Apologies if this is repetitive, but here for some inspiration stories… I prepped hard for the first (phone interview) McK 30-min evaluative case study (Digital Associate role) but failed it cause I couldn’t calm my nerves… is it realistic to hope that with more hard work, I can at least make it to the final rounds next time round? Any tips to not be anxious for a phone interview?

How can you gauge whether a LMM pe shop with limited past employees has a good culture or not? I’m interviews with a few but feel like I have no clue if itll be sweaty, chill, etc. What questions can I ask to get insight into this?

2nd year junior attorney applying to new positions in the Southern California area. Every firm that’s called me to interview are smaller firms with salary ranges of 80-90k. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong — I have had multiple people review my resume, cover letters, etc. It seems like it’s a decently hot market, and I’m just out here getting frustrated.

Does anyone know how to go about providing a writing sample to a potential new employer while going through the application process, without letting on to my current team that I am applying for a new job? I understand I would need permission to use a redacted memorandum or document I’ve written during my time a PwC, but to ask for permission to use one of my writings as a sample would basically admit that I’m applying to another job. What is the appropriate thing to do in this situation ?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? I have cleared all the interviews for Walmart and salary negotiations are also done. A month ago the recruiter said that they are waiting on some approvals and once it is done we will be issuing the offer letter but I haven't heard back any other update since then. Am I getting rejected or is it normal to be on hold without any update for a month at this stage?

The two remaining in-laws were on thin ice with me prior due to years of drama, nagging, and disgusting display of wealth. Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way. I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.

Friend and I both got offers, came out of the same school and have very similar internship experience. He's white and I'm not, his offer is significantly higher. How low is low enough to walk away?
