My 2020 goal is to either obtain my AAMS or CRPC designation. Which one holds more industry strength? My end goal is to get my CFP. Thoughts?
Thoughts on the CFP designation? Is it still worth considering or have stringent regulations muddied the waters? My goal is to have as many certifications under my belt as possible (to serve my clients the best I can) and I’m wondering which path I should pursue.
Anyone have success charging an hourly fee for financial planning? Considering making a jump into it, have cfp designation, but am mostly commission at the moment. Won’t be a total switch.
I'm interested in hearing from those that hold the designation:After achieving the CFP did you/how did you announce it to your clients?
Anyone recently take the March CFP exam? If so, how are you feeling, especially having to wait a month before getting the results?
Is the cfp as hard as people says it is?
Starting the CFP in January... gonna use a scheduled, 11 month program through dalton. Any advice?
I’m considering leaving Public Accounting to become a Certified Financial Planner. Have any of you other fishies looked into this? What are some things to consider?!
Those who have their CFP: how have you used/marketed it effectively to enhance your business? Just earned mine and curious how others have benefited.
Have my CPA but thinking about becoming a certified financial planner after leaving public accounting. How difficult and time consuming is the exam compared to the CPA? Is it worth it?
I've done parts of the CFP but couldn't sit for the exam. I am thinking about finishing the requirements to sit, but I am wondering if my time would be better spent prospecting. Thoughts?
So I am a W-2 salaried CFP at a small IRA and I have a neighbor who runs his own practice and asked if I knew anyone who would be looking for part time paraplanning work. After thinking about it I got to wondering if its compliant and okay for an advisor to do something like that on the side for extra income or would that be considered a conflict on interest as an OBA?
The only 5 people who have EVER asked me if I am a CFP... BTW I'm not... have been Millennials and gen-xers looking to start DCAing $250 a month into a Roth. Not 1 person of significant wealth. LOL
I really want to get the CFP asap but I’m torn bc all of my time & energy is currently going into building my practice and I’m only about 16 months in with a relatively long way to go. Continued....
Long drive tomorrow. Does anyone know of any on demand CFP continue education courses out there? I’d love to knock out 15 hrs of CE on this drive, if able. 🤦♂️🔫🤢
What is the purpose of a flipped classroom? Some teachers are doing their lessons via video so the kids are prepped before class. Then, what do they do in class?
A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻♂️

I’m a software engineer (in big tech now) and kind of a workaholic. Depending on how my longer term career in tech goes, if things don’t align properly I was debating shifting to consulting (ideally mbb) and establishing a career in consulting. How stupid is this, and if it’s not entirely stupid how viable is this idea and would you as a fellow consultant recommend this?

What is the best message when informing the rest of your company that someone was terminated? The backstory is that this employees performance has been struggling, he was put on a PIP, and in recent convos, he’s said that his role isn’t for him. As he is getting terminated due to performance, it feels more amicable now that he knows it’s not working and that he needs to find a new job. Thoughts on message to the rest of the company?
