Tax Manager - what type of stuff can I exit to? I mostly has flow through entity experience and no income tax provision experience at a Top 15 firm. Been here 8 years and am a little nervous to even consider non public accounting because it’s all I know, but I want a less stressful work/life balance. I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)

What are the most boring jobs out there?

Accounting advisory big4 or IA at F100. Both senior roles. Roughly same base pay.

Big4 has clear trajectory and interesting work.

F100 has 14% bonus, perm remote, and immediate vesting 401k over 7%.

What would you take?

Currently a new S1 thinking about taking a FP&A role. Is going from Senior to Analyst not Senior analyst a bad move? Mediocre raise in salary (3k) but well known company with a flat structure

What should I be considering when evaluating a business analyst role? Are these more accounting than finance, FP&A, or does it change by company?
