I tied to do that in Austin but all duplexes in areas I wanted to live were $1M+. I’d imagine Dallas is the same or similar, potentially more
A1 so what’d you do? I’m debating my options but I’d really prefer to not rent.
Build - buy a lot and start from scratch
Renting better in areas where home prices are high
I bought a single bd condo instead :/ for the record I think a duplex is a great idea, just wasn’t feasible for me at this point. Didn’t have the $downpayment
I was looking within 2 miles of downtown though
Idk, all the houses are single family from what I’ve seen. Almost non-existent.
A1 I gotcha, atleast you could buy somewhere. Did you use the FHA loan? And pwc1 yea I’m just trying to hold out for the right multifamily to show up
Where in Dallas specifically? Bought a house in Plano, but looking to buy rental property in the next year
No I did a conventional loan
I’m looking anywhere plano and south. I’m looking east and west. Trying to stay away from southwest downtown though.
OP - how would you use FHA? Aren’t there not to exceed income requirements?
IBM1 I don’t believe there are income requirements. So I plan to use it so that I can leverage myself more and use the other money on SFH. Just struggling to find a realtor that can locate a multifamily for me
Try loopnet.com
A1 thanks yea I’ve looked there but it’s mostly commercial and I need it to be a 4plex or smaller
