But FP&A is essentially management accounting… same thing- detail oriented, reporting, it’s just more forward thinking, budgeting, forecasting, you are still looking at numbers, and more- 12 months, 36 months …
Not keen on the preparing annual reports type of accounting which involves entertaining auditors. Have never spoken to a single fp&a staff throughout my 4 years of auditing
I don’t like accounting either, thinking about switch to strategy consulting

More the ad hoc stuff. If the marketing team asks you to see how different marketing campaigns impacted sales for certain products, can you answer that? If the company wants to look at NPV of different potential products, do you know what info you need to get that answer? If there's thought to open a new store, what analysis should be done to see where that should be done, if at all?
Take (potentially bad) data and inputs from your business partners, build financial models, then create a deck to show any actionable insights. At its best, it's a role that sits at the table when the business makes strategic decisions. At worst, it's monthly reports that no one really cares about. Or even worse, it's an accounting/finance hybrid. Just depends on the company.
