Bain & Company Fishes, I wonder if you have suggestion on office selection, I am finishing my dual degree(advanced degree and applying for post MBA level job) next year and now applying for consulting roles in the states. I have never been to the states and will only arrive on campus in Fall. I am keen on Seattle and SF offices but I have no affiliation or experience there. Any suggestions? It's very common and even recommended. Since you'll have much less flexibility once you approach senior level, it's better to invest your time now and get the exams out of the way during your staff year. Just avoid the winter busy season, but other than that I don't see any issues taking the time off.
Thanks guys! I just failed reg so now I have to do a reg retake and far (first time) before sept 2019. I just wanna get it done as early as possible
I used ninja tooo... helped a lot!
I took a LOA to work on the CPA. They won't grant it during busy season but should be able to as soon as it ends. Start those conversations early with your coach. At Deloitte, there is a season LOA that will allow you to get a small percentage of your pay and allow you to hang on to your laptop and phone during the leave, if approved. It'll have to be approved by any teams it might affect. Most are supportive, especially if you just do during the summer when things slow down.
The key here is planning and open communication. A lot of people may say buckle up and get it done while working but everyone is different so do what is best for you. No one will care about this in 6 months once you passed the exams and are back to work. I have seen good people leaving just bet they don’t have CPA and they can’t get promoted to manager. Again do what is best for you and keep in mind everyone is different.
Also Deloitte here, yes. As long as your plan it around the busy portions of your client work they’re totally fine. I took 6 weeks to study for and take FAR. It was my last part and my managers are relieved im done now.
Take time off leading. It helped me pass. Best advice is take 2-3 days off so that you have an extended weekend to hit the books
I have used both a modified schedule and LOA to finish the exam. I would highly recommend it as you should just get it out of the way as soon as possible. I was ok about not getting paid for a month and a half to study full time and finish my last part
no.
