I recently graduated from law school and have started my clerkship in the superior court of NJ. Once done with my clerkship, I’m hoping to work in employment law (defense). I’ve seen online that Jackson Lewis is hiring at their Berkeley Heights, NJ location. Can anyone give me any insight on what it’s like to work at JL? culture? First year associate salary? Typical work day? Jackson Lewis P.C.

Getting called next day for a fed position is nearly unheard of. Great job! Go for it and enjoy the work.
I worked for a federal agency doing civil litigation work. In my experience, no matter how busy my office was, we had better work/life balance than any firm.
I should note that we didn’t even have support staff. We eventually got a paralegal and she helped our GC primarily.
Definitely better work/life, regardless of how busy they are. They’ll respect boundaries and not call you past 6p and/or on weekends.
They are busy. But that has nothing to do with that they called you back so quickly.
That is fast, but they may just really like you and your experience.
If you don’t want it - I do!
Ask them how the vacancy came about. Did someone leave? Get promoted? Did work loads increase? If it’s the latter, will the position exist once things die down?
