In the U.S. the annual pay for a police officer is around $50K, in my opinion, it is too little to risk your life on a daily basis. I think police officers should be paid more for their services.
I'm a police officer, and I have seen many brothers in the force fall due to corruption, you have to keep in mind that many of us who enter the force comes from poor background and it is hard to get out from under with such a low salary.
In my opinion, being a police officer today is more complicated than in my time, everything is supervised and criticized when you make a mistake, and if you add to this the low pay, it is necessary to increase and improve the training to be a police officer at the same time, that is to say, to be more demanding.

It's a tough question to answer. Thankfully, my area is relatively safe so I wouldn't say I'm putting my life on the line everyday but officers in more dangerous places still get paid about the same for a riskier job
