My best friend at AMZN is 31 with a communications degree from Missouri State University and is making $650k as an L8 site leader.
D1 - it adds up perfectly, he has 10 yoe at the warehouse right out of college. There are many examples of homegrown people like this at AMZN. You can just Google l8 site leader profiles on LinkedIn to confirm. I’m not making it up. $650k is peanuts to Amazon and has nothing to do with how much partners get paid in the big 4, they’re worth $2 trillion. 😂. I exited D after 8 yoe and thought I was making a ton at $270k when I jumped to AMZN but after being here for 5 years I realize that is nothing in this FAANG world.
Not necessary, but they help, in the sense that MBA plus xyz is still preferred over xyz alone. Usually, a few additional years of directly relevant work experience plus maybe management experience should suffice.
Great, thanks for the advice! Do you think it’s hard to get manager experience without an MBA?
In my industry, it was very rare to see someone without an advanced degree make it to director or higher. Yes, there were some without it but they were the exception.
Yes

At my F100 firm, nope. Off the top of my head, I believe our firmwide stats are something like 45% of middle management+ has a MBA.

Outside of FAANG some companies HR systems have a box that needs to be checked.
