Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Which companies are giving permanent remote 🤔

Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

No, not allowed due to tax complications! But you shouldn’t have any issues getting 3 weeks paid vacation approved. Just inform ahead of time
No, you are not allowed to work from outside United States.
EY doesn’t allow you to work outside of US. Especially in India. A lot of US firms are getting in trouble with the India tax authorities because of this.
You are not allowed, and due to the hassle of legality and work visas, you won't get an exception.
However, there is a 90% chance you can do it and get away with it, as long as you keep your mouth shut and continue to work your home country hours.
Yes they they track you, but there is a good chance they don't do anything about it. Especially if it is just a day or two at either end of a vacation.
Is there no way to change the teams setting or display?
Not a chance, they don’t even let you work in Hawaii or Puerto Rico

You can work in Hawaii, but not Puerto Rico or other territories like Guam.
Why don't you just enjoy your days off. It appears you are not on a project right now, so why don't you leave the laptop in US and enjoy time with family. It's only 2.5 weeks.
Y’all have, or at least had, an offshore component of your delivery model. Talk to your career coach, pml, whatever y’all call it and see. There’s usually a fair bit of flexibility but client dependent.

Our firm has been very clear that there is no flexibility here.
