I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Soft layoffs at ProServe today ?
Some BS I noticed that I’d like to call out…
As we’ve all seen there have been layoffs happening left and right. However, there’s a right way to handle the situation.
Lyft isn’t one of them. I was with the company earlier this year on a contract to hire role that was ended suddenly. Then, yesterday I saw on LinkedIn that most of the team was laid off (including team lead) YET I’ve had a recruiter reach out to me to apply to my same old position with the team but…

It's happening, the leadership confirmed it on a call with the analyst community recently. They're calling it managed attrition, but don't sweat it too much if you're brand new. Unless you're not actively looking for things to do, and there are always things to do, then you're good.
Managed attrition* don't let them hear you say layoffs or you're next
What's a plan b for a student who hasn't even started yet? They can't even go through university recruiting again..
That's not true. Acn strat is instituting up or out aka managed attrition. It's common practice and healthy. If after having time to prove yourself, you're not performing well or you hit a cap period of time at a level without promotion, you can be managed out. A first year analyst would not get laid off unless they went very very long periods of time unstaffed (think like 6 months) AFTER having completely bombed a project. You would never be laid off before starting or before getting a project. Additionally the issue of the deep bench has been pretty much entirely taken care of. Best firm chargeability all year this past quarter.
I've heard this too but can't confirm. Allegedly major layoffs this year. I'd start working on a plan B
A2 - managed attrition is happening. Layoffs are not. Heavy layoffs are absolutely not.
ACN3... At no point in the history of ever will the company host an analyst call and ADMIT to analyst level layoffs... Stay woke y'all
I'm in MC, are we safe? =] or =\ or ;-(
Well the bench was deep. But I don't think anyone would say it still is right now. Honestly I've been struggling to find available analysts, and the demand report was just released and the bench has decreased 70-80% from a couple months ago
I'm free beginning of June A3
This post is about Accenture strategy. So that's what I'm referencing.
I'm in tech and got promoted this past year. Just rolled off a project. Should I worry about being laid off if I don't find something in 6 weeks???
My info is also coming straight from the analyst call with leadership that a2 is referencing
Layoffs selectively in certain offices/groups - over hired analyst class
@A3 - Fair. Calling it layoffs is a bit drastic, especially compared to what's been going on in oil and gas recently, but whatever you call it they are systematically firing people outside of the typical year-end up or out. @OP just do your best and you'll be fine. You won't get canned without an opportunity to show your stuff. Just don't suck
Interesting, why are there so many conflicting opinions on how deep the bench is? And so you think public forum postings are generally skewed towards negativity because people generally go on these to rant and panic?
Bench depends which operating group you're in. So does the managed attrition. I imagine the disagreements here stem at least partially from the fact that people are talking about entirely different benches
Figured as much since you referenced our call, but meant on fishbowl in general as well.
Bench time, chargeability, years at level and salary are all what lay offs have been rumored to be around. All that I've heard of were generally surprised that got the 2 weeks notice
