Some BS I noticed that I’d like to call out…

As we’ve all seen there have been layoffs happening left and right. However, there’s a right way to handle the situation.

Lyft isn’t one of them. I was with the company earlier this year on a contract to hire role that was ended suddenly. Then, yesterday I saw on LinkedIn that most of the team was laid off (including team lead) YET I’ve had a recruiter reach out to me to apply to my same old position with the team but…

I’m so sorry - that’s awful. Glassdoor sounds like a nice place to mention that 😎

*continued* but with wayyy less pay.

It’s actually disgusting that they would lay off employees who’ve been there for years then replace them immediately (like started recruiting prior the layoffs) with lesser paid contractors.

Wow that’s insane :o these companies need to be called out

This is nuts but I’m not surprised

Are they laying off just for stock value and then trying to rehire the same folk?

Oops, accident

Early in my career I was hired to replace a person who was laid off. I thought companies couldn’t replace a laid off position per labor laws but apparently they could. I’m inclined to say it’s a business decision. I know people will take it personally, it’s hard not to.

That’s so absurd. Were multiple people laid off or was this person let go due to performance issues?

It’s ruthless business tactics out there. Companies have no heart - only goals and they would stomp on anyone to reach there.

Looking from this lens, I think we can temper our expectations about the company we work for - in good and bad times.

Just saves you a heart break !! It does nothing more.

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Considering a change from audit (SM) to an advisory role - looking at a Director position within Strategy, Finance and Accounting M&A. [Insert typical “should I make the jump” question here]. I’m 3+ years to audit partner and weighing options and exhausted by omnipresent inspection risk and how this impacts day to day (and presume it will continue to get worse). Considering the advisory role 1) job security, 2) exit ops, 3) partnership ops. Anyone recently make a similar jump and could share?
