1. Anything you print off and take with you can be tracked. Don’t do anything stupid.
2. Write down phone numbers and email of key contacts you want to stay in touch with.
3. Read your employment contract re any noncompete or non solicitation. Consult attorney if necessary.
4. If you expect them to PIP you or terminate you, document and report now any facts that would help a future claim. This also puts HR in a box and may prolong your employment while you look. Don’t assume you cannot negotiate severance or a longer time to look. For example, you agree to waive claims if they give you six months etc.
5. Negotiate that your last day is early in a month. You typically have health insurance through month end.
6. You have a look back period to file for Cobra so if you are young and healthy you may be able to go at least that period without coverage. If a big medical expense arises file retro for Cobra. If not, you saved money.
7. Get your CE for the year. There is usually basic online stuff you already know so you can proceed thru the material quickly and still pass the test.
8. Do any medical and dental checkups or tests. Check if any group term life is portable.
9. Expense any dues or license renewals.
10. Use time period until separation to work with contacts for job referrals while you are still employed.
