As someone who had adhd what help you the most in your job? I’ve been in HR for years it just seems things have gotten harder for me lately. I’m open to any & all suggestions apps, etc whatever because I’m starting to worry about my job.

What helped me most was taking a break, tbc. I took about six weeks off of work. Know that not everyone could do that so right now as I’m working full time, I would say to unplug completely when you can, after work and weekends. Make sure you’re doing things you enjoy and have time to decompress.

More things I do: Set aside time to plan and prioritise; Mondays or Fridays. Map out what your next few months looks like, and any goals. Identify any possible roadblocks and challenges (something hard or energy drainers). Make tasks list with priority and deadlines.

That sounds terrible OP! I think then it’s more about setting boundaries and letting her how you prefer to work and what’ possible. In a way that is about achieving a common goal. For example, can you ask that ideally you get at least 1 day notice for these these requests so you have time, and if it’s urgent, at least get on a call so you have input on the plan and so you can share any concerns? It’s a matter of respect too. You deserve it.

I write everything down in as many different places as possible. Desk calendar, phone calendar, mini notebook, random notebook, planner, post it notes. Also knowing when I just need a down day instead of pushing myself to work through brain fog

I like the Pomodoro method, which is essentially 25 minutes on and 5 minutes off. THIS works very well because keeps tasks from feeling overwhelming.

I actually use Forest App. It's super fun because it makes you plant a tree and it grows when you are focused not using your phone. I love using it!

Only slightly joking but nicotine. Mostly because I haven’t gotten on meds yet.

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

I work in sales as a coordinator and do a bunch of paperwork with customers online. I LOVE PEOPLE but dread going to work everyday (wfh 3x a week) because the environment is toxic. I just found out that the only positive manager on my team is leaving. I am spiraling. I have a BS in Health Science (no chemistry classes taken and minimal biology education). Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.
