Hi All, My Junior has decided to put paper, as she wanted to pursue Cdac course from Sept-22. She just informed that she signed a bond of 2 years and currently she has completed 1.7 years in HCL. What should she do now? Results is on 10-aug and she decided to put paper on that day itself (Earlier she told the same to Sr. manager) Kindly suggest if any action would be taken by HCL OR No experience letter would be shared with her. I think that's really a good definition of ageism, and ageism definitely exists. I think it's one of those things where you have to prove that the experience you bring is actually relevant in today's atmosphere. It's interesting that you smashed goals many years ago, but employers are, of course, interested in what you can do for them this week, next week, and next season. And by the way, I honestly think a lot of people do themselves no favors by focusing too much on the past and not being open to change.
If you can smash , you can smash ! A Long ball hitter is always gonna be a long ball hitter!
I will say there is some advantages due to age in a positive way…todays world after the pandemic especially, the young generation does not care to work, so most companies today are more mindful to hiring young people. They don’t want to work hard and they want more money. Older people are more disciplined and know how to work hard and willing to do so.
I'm going through this right now so thank you for your post. My age (58) is definitely a reason I'm not getting employment. SO frustrating & scary when you need employment.
Ageism is 1000000% a thing.
I think that is true to some extent because I have seen it happen. At some point they really do start looking at age and it does affect people in a negative way. Rather than looking at experience as a good thing they see it as somewhat of a bad thing.
they can and that's illegal
possibly. Might even be "nah, he's not gonna be cool in the meeting. Id rather go with a 21 year old that doesnt know anything and will just smile and be the best employee for 50K"
They absolutely do, even though that is discriminatory.
Depending on the position, i would be looking for experience. If this is in sales management, i would definitely look for experience versus inexperience, my expectation of the sales manager would be to mentor their replacement, if they feel through the evaluation they have no replacement for themselves, then that becomes a risk.
Yes
I feel like that's also the case with young people. I'm 21 myself, and I can't find a job for the life of me. I've been searching for a job for the best part of 5 years, my last job I had at 16 sacked me after 3 months for not coming in one day. This was AFTER I gave them notice of my absence, which they agreed to grant me. I'm looking for anything retail, as I don't do well in warehouse environments. And it's alot just trying to find the right fit
