My goal is to bill at least 40 hours a week. With two weeks off for vacation this puts you right at 2000. I frequently go over that but that is my mental minimum.
My requirement is 1,750, but I try to hit above 1,925 to get a decent hours bonus. So usually aiming for about 165 a month and not bummed if I'm a bit short. If I know I will have a trial or arbitration in the year then I'll let some months drop to 130ish because trial hours will give me a 200-250 month easy and I'm not trying to work myself to death.
Base it off your bonus target. So my firm is 2000 hours to be considered on track, but 2100 for a market rate bonus. So that’s 175 billable hours a month for me.
A1, same! I typically try to front load and hit high end 200+ months early in the year to afford to take vacation time towards year end without being paranoid about it.
Firm says 1950/yr but I never set goals. If they got work, I’m happy to do as much as they send me. If they got nothin’ (which is too often the case), I’m happy to do that, too.
We don't have an hours goal and effective rate changes constantly so I'm chasing a collections goal without a clear idea what reasonable hours look like.
My monthly goal is: work days x 8.
How are all of you doing 2,000. Goal is 1,700 and, while not crazy, I still find it hard to bill more than 7 hours a day.
We have that same software capability, but I stop every 5-10 minutes to watch my dog watch squirrels out the window, so it’s too much stop and start.

Yearly requirement is 1800, so that breaks down to 150 a month.

My goal is similar to A2... 9 x workdays

I shoot for 165 every month. My bonus is 162.
200, usually end up with 180-190
Similar to OP: hours goal times effective rate equals collections goal. There is an hourly requirement but meeting collections forgives all.

175 a month.
