BCG fish - is this true? Heard about the managers collectively challenging leadership during a townhall (a strike!?) that helped unlock the new Covid benefits incl. stipend etc. If this is legit then wow! How did it come together? If not true... Cool stipend bro, wanna share?

No reason to think it was our challenge what made these changes happen. Certain level of discontent had been voiced extensively before across all ranks.

Nothing came together really. We just were totally honest with our leadership during a PL-leadership call (not a townhall!). We had nothing to fear when we realized most PLs in the call were feeling the same way anyway.

Also, if you never voice your discontent to the ones in change, how are you going to make things happen?

Leadership had done a lot already, people wanted more. I’d say we’re probably leading in consulting with the latest (COVID) benefits. Extra days off this year (in addition to 5 last year), stipends for next 4 months (in addition to two stipends, year end gifts, etc. last year) expensing back, extra mid-year bonuses for managers and above (fully funded bonus pool last year), lots of flex/part-time options offered (ironically these have caused us to be short-staffed) and other things like end of case breaks for certain cohorts being piloted. All in all, I’d say BCG has done a pretty good job in responding to employee asks.

Hello I just started my first job (I’m 22) and I need to set up a 401k for matching with my company. I’m really confused how this works because I want to try to hit the IRS maximum of $19,500 for Roth contributions this year. Maybe it’s too late in the year now, but it’s asking me to pick my desired contribution % per pay period, but I’m not sure how much to do because it says it’ll kick in 1-2 pay cycles and I don’t even know when the next pay check comes yet. Any tips would be great

Is anyone concerned the push for sexual equality in pay without accordant leveling of parental leave is gonna backfire?

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷
