It would not look bad. Especially given the times we live in now. A lot of people are burned out and taking some time to recharge does not come across negative by any means.
Mentor
If you take time off you should do something like travel. If you are just taking CFA, maybe consider taking a temp job with a big bank? Those have low workload. I personally know people who are doing that for 10 years, no stress, no progression of course, and pay is good.
Take the time off if you need it. Anything can be explained in the long run and if a company wants you, they won't care i you took a year off to take care of yourself. I woudl say go for it.
You do you, just come back with some tenacity!
Bad
It will be the best decision you would do! Imagine how many of those people in the industry would wish they could have done the same thing. Take care of yourself first, and look for new opportunities. One of my friends did the same thing and new opportunities were opened to him. Now he doesn't have to go back to the corporate world.
Probably will be fine, 300k better than most people lol do what’s best for yourself, just have some stories for when you come back
I would get out while you can. I think with 300k you'd be pretty comfortable, but you could probably switch jobs at this point and find a pretty solid offer
I wouldn't worry much about it if it meant having to take care of my mental and overall health. But I do have friends that used the time to travel around as it looked more "forgiving".
I'm sure it wouldn't be that terrible. Take the opportunity to rejuvinate. You deserve it.
Good luck trying to get a job again! Employed people for years don’t understand how impossible it is to get a job now! They are so ignorant working for the same company for years getting a promotion but if your not working and try to get a job expect 4000 resumes from other candidates applying for the same job!!!!!!!!!
Do it. It’s not going to look bad, though job search might be a bit harder bc it’s usually easier to find a role when you have one. I wish I took a year off when I was younger. If you have a decent resume and are good at interviewing, you’ll be fine. I think when I was your age, I quit a job after 3 days and still found a role at a hedge fund after being honest.
I don't think it would look bad at all. You're going to gain so much experience in this the time you take off that I'm sure would be valuable for this position you apply for.
