Hi fishes,
Why TCS is so rude and self proclaimed kinda. I declined TCS offer last year as they were giving very less CTC. Now I got interviewed again with TCS and cleared all the rounds but they are not reactivating my ibegin portal for document upload since I rejected them last year...in this way u think they will never ever reactivate my profile.

Best = MS (was pretty blown I didn’t get offer)
Worst = Accenture (still got job obviously)
Best: OW
Worst: Blackstone - I started getting up to walk out after 5 min; think the guy talked me into staying another 5 and then we said goodbyes
It was a long time ago in on-campus undergrad recruiting, so I only remembered vaguely. I think the guy was running at least 5 min late and instead of apologizing and trying to catch up, asked me to wait another 10 so he could make a call in between, showing no respect for my schedule. Indeed, I think I had another interview afterward (2nd round with an MD I had met already and got on well with from a derivatives desk), and though initially there’d been a buffer, I was worried about being late for that.
Turned out he was a real estate banker recruiting specifically for the real estate team, which hadn’t been disclosed and wasn’t something I was interested in. He was full of himself and wanted to know why I thought I’d be a good little ant on his team. I paused awkwardly trying to decide if I should say something polite, but couldn’t think of anything so I told him the truth: I couldn’t imagine why anyone would, and we probably shouldn’t waste our time - and started getting up. He changed his tack briefly and tried to explain why real estate could be a good specialty. I heard him out for a few min, may have exchanged another question or two, then I looked at my watch and said thanks but it’s time for my next appointment.
Strangest: KPMG. Did my phone screen, was contacted for a followup interview, then received an email from a different phone screener telling me that I was not a good fit and “good luck in your future endeavors”... on the day of the follow-up and about 30 min before the interview. Figured “what the hell” and took the interview anyways and got the job. If I ever have a desk, I’ll print/frame the random rejection from that phone screener and hang it above that weird “encore trophy” they gave me.
Worst: GM
Best: Deloitte
Weirdest: Altria (felt like this would be an experience and I was right)
Worst: accenture (got stood up for a video interview)
Best: Oliver Wyman (didn’t get it but super fun)
Best = Small startup - everyone was smart and nice, but didn't get the offer
Worst = Two Sigma - recruiter scheduled call after second round, never called, and ghosted me. Two of the interviewers were telling me how boring the work is during the interview. Super bizzare
K1 how many HF have you worked for in an engineering or Strategy role?
Worst by far: Accenture
Best: small company working with health systems transitioning to value-based care
Sounds like something up my alley.
Best: LEK (got the offer) - great experience
Worst: EY (obviously got the offer) - was stood up multiple times for phone and video interviews
sure...
Best: Microsoft (made friends with people interviewing, got the job, and had an amazing time there)
Worst: KPMG
Worst/weird: either Palo Alto Networks - sr exec position and I was interviewed by a sale engineer who knew nothing about management, or a boutique out of Dallas, where I was interviewed for direct entry partner by an associate who wanted to call himself engagement manager but had no experience, and asked a bunch of statistics question when he didn’t understand what standard variation was.
Best: my first job, a foreign defense agency, super laid back, very pointed and pertinent questions.
Haha, yeah too early to edit your post down from std dev and variance and other terms. either way, weird, talked about stats, didn’t get expected value, standard deviation, variance, etc. and he just looked at me like I was speaking Greek. At the end I asked him for fun what he thought about 6 sigma, and he asked if that was a foreign fraternity. But he kept saying he was an engagement manager although his title was associate.
Worst: Ingram micro. Final round interview and unexpectedly given case. Interviewer and would be boss hated my responses. Almost said in the interview, well this isn’t a fit. Obvi didn’t get job
Best: Houlihan lokey. Challenging technical questions but didn’t feel like interviewers were trying to slip you up. Didn’t get offer for office / team I interviewed with but they wanted to interview me for other offices. Didn’t want to move.
My best and worst interview experiences didn’t result in offers
Best: PwC
Worst: UBS - 2 on 1 interview, one interviewer let her phone ring in the middle of the table to test my attention lol
Best: industry final interview. Great rapport with everyone, top to bottom, told I’m in at the end and to expect an email the next day from HR - which I got.
Worst: large healthcare vertical final interview. Interview didn’t feel serious with lots of tropes (“tell me about a time you had to cope with failure” and “what’s your greatest weakness”), hiring manager ended interview by saying they were in no rush to hire, as the position had been open for 8 months; and refused to commit to a date for final notification (“soon, very soon”).
Best = Cerner, JPMC & Deloitte (offers at all 3, accepted at both JPMC & D.)
Worst = FICO, it was such a long drawn out process and extended an offer. It didn’t even come close to the salary I was already making! Strong nope.
Worst: Booz. Interviewers each told me I should expect to be worked to death, generally abused, and should recognize that it's a true privilege. Walked out after 3rd interview.
Best: Accenture. Had a great time with everyone, from the recruiter to the MD who qualified me to the person who ran my personality and soft skills assessment. Was just all-around positive and fun.
