I agree with Manager. I mean you could book a cabin on an cargo ship if you can find one. I don’t think they run ocean liners anymore

JAL via JFK

like

JAL via American or vice verse. Either connect to/depart from JFK or ORD.

like

This is what we are doing via ORD.

There’s a direct flight from EWR to HND on United/ANA

JFK via JAL on the A350 is the newest/nicest way. Money/points no object, I’d fly that product in a heart beat.

Alternate options include flying east via Europe depending on price

West. You might think East would be better because you would be traveling with the jet stream. But the jet lag is worse going east. If you get a lie-flat seat and are able to get a good seven hours of sleep, you lose a day crossing the international dateline, and sometimes you can wake up and just hit the ground running. There are some good award flights from the West Coast. Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. If I had to do it right now, I would fly from Boston to San Francisco on JetBlue on points and then take ZipAir to Tokyo. ZipAir offers a life flat seat for around $1300 on some flights and under $1700 on others. It’s kind of hard to beat that. The last time I flew to Japan I flew out of Mexico City. The flight was great, but it wasn’t short. I paid full price for business class and do not regret it.

Jet lag tip: after landing in Japan, take four hours and spend it in a spa or onsen. Get a salt scrub massage. Drink some Pocari Sweat. Then go get some good ramen. You will completely forget your previous time zone.

A direct flight to Tokyo (Narita or Haneda) is usually the best option. Japan’s rail system makes onward travel incredibly easy

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

Had to travel this weekend. A few observations. the plane was least the nerve wracking part of the entire experience. Everyone wearing masks. Middle seats open [SWA]. Plane was spotless.

Airports were empty. Most people wearing masks.
Long lines for food in the airports. Generally social distancing in lines.

Ubers have been stressful, but otherwise ok.I’m going to go wash my hands again.

Hi there!
I completed the last round of an interview (presentation) last week. Originally they said they would be calling my references & then make an offer accordingly.
Today they updated that they'd like me to travel to their HQ (based in Nordics & I'm in London) for the final round where I'd meet the CEO, the hiring manager and a couple of people in the team.
I don't think I'm the only one in the process - even though initially the last round was the presentation.
What are your thoughts?

Thinking of heading to Maui (for the first time) for thanksgiving and seeking recommendations for a hotel (considering Ritz but open to others) and things to do. TIA!!

Anyone here have comorbid anxiety and/or depression? How did you know, and how do you manage it now? I think I might be struggling with one or both and I’m trying to figure out how to proceed. Not currently seeing a therapist or medicated, managing based on strategies I learned from an ADHD coach back in college, so at minimum I would need to find a provider, which has been a barrier (cost-wise, finding someone with experience with ADHD, etc.)

Incoming MBA, I have my tuition paid for and rent covered (I will be an RA). So the only thing I need to pay for is food and entertainment. Do you think 20k is enough to last me through the 2 years? I will make a little money interning in the summer, so that would be a safety valve if I blow through the 20k.

Or… should I take a small loan?

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?
