Program Manager L3 salary in HCOL?
Anyone know the raise amounts for BCG yet?
Hi,
I'm currently having an offer from BlueOptima and Cohesity and am conflicted between the two.
I have offers in the SDET profile.
Cohesity Inc is providing me MTS and @BlueOptima is providing SDET-1.
Glassdoor reviews more of less place the two companies almost equally, and the package being offered by the two is almost in the same range.
My preferences include:
Learning opportunities in the role.
Company's work environment.
Company's growth prospects, are also a consideration.
YOE: 2 years

EY offered me $80K as an associate last year. I heard JDs came in at $90K. 😒
That’s awful.
JD/LLM, B4 International Tax, HCOL
2017 A1: 89k
2018 A2: 104k
2019 jumped firms S1: 110k
2020 S2: no raise cuz of COVID, then raise to 114k midyear
2021 S3: 122k
2022 M1: 136k (found out I was being paid more than most managers in my group and realized what PA senior managers were paid in my office and decided I had to gtfo)
Late 2022 jumped to dream job in industry, manager level: 180k
Not expecting a meaningful bump in salary til promotion, which I’m expecting won’t happen til 2025/26
That makes sense and I’m glad you were able to get to a better place mentally! Can’t underestimate that stuff.
My salary progression is a bit odd and I’m also a bit older. I jumped once for an extra 30k and I jumped a few years later for an extra 20k. I eventually jumped to a law firm and they then increased their comp across the board. I ended up doubling my salary to eventually get to 4XX.
But again, I’m older.
Very few B4 paths can compete with law when you’re just looking at comp. My niche tax group has a good number of JDs. They all know they’d be making more in law, but they’d also likely be working more which says a lot considering we’re in busy season six months of the year.
Law firms have busy season 12 months of the year 😂. It’s tough, but pays incredibly well.
JD in HCOL. 1st yr was 120k. 2nd = 165 (jumped to another big4). 3rd = 181. All base so not including signing and EOY bonus. SA2 currently.
First year associate with JD/LLM in M&A tax and base pay is 130k in HCOL.
It depends
It depends on the firm, practice, group, location, etc.
I started out at 105k base as an A1 in International Tax at a pretty HCOL area in late 2017. As M2, I was making 194k base last year (2022-23). TBC on the coming year’s raise.
I’ll leave my M&A pay below, noting that my market is now at $120k for entry level JD/LLm
2014: 85k
2015: 105k
2016 (SA): $120k
2017: $135k
2018 (M): 155k
2019: $170k
2020 (SM): $190k.
All the above are salaries with bonus trending around 10%.
Left before 2021 pay adjustments but make ~300k total comp in house now and left for about 250k.
