Can anyone speak to the Squire Patton Boggs LA office? I was wondering about what the culture is like and whether everyone goes by the three days in the office policy. Thanks!

It’s a great team, most are super chill and helpful. Some people come in daily, some come in as needed. It very much depends.

Need help assess an offer from #PwC. Director of M&A IT (DDV - Deliver Deal Value). The offer has base salary (based on cohort - Tier 3 Home City) and sign-up bonus, but does not have the annual bonus structure for Director level at #PwC. HR lady said that they will give you that when you start. I would like that now (written format). She told me verbally the percentages but I do not recall them. Anyone from #PwC has that info in a PDF document?

Any documents? Much appreciated.

Hey everyone! This is my first time posting but I thought I’d try to ask, I received a request from a recruiter to interview for a new insurance company I’ve never heard of: Branch. So I pulled an all nighter on Monday to do this thing, spend Tuesday like a zombie (and I had 5 calls!!!) then on 6PM the senior reviewing my work came back with comments that I needed to turn “ASAP”. I was so tired I just said I would not because I needed to sleep. I sent them today at 1:30 PM.

I’m currently a 2nd year associate in commercial finance. I’ve realized I don’t enjoy a a strictly transactional practice. I enjoyed litigation matters as a summer (particularly the adversarial nature). Also, love talking and advising clients. I don’t want the litigation lifestyle and appreciate the in-house opportunities of transactional. Assuming that I could switch (or lateral), I’m thinking I may enjoy employment (and the ability to defend and train/advise). I appreciate any insight.

How did you give notice you were lateraling to people you like? Particularly if you haven't been there that long?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

A friend was told their firm will cut ties EOY if certain things don’t improve. Friend had planned to quit in the next year anyway (to start their own business), so there is no real incentive to bend over backwards. Friend’s goal is to keep the income for a little longer, but to minimize conflict / headaches. What’s the best move here? Wait until EOY and take the severance? Give 6 / 9 / 12 months’ notice now? Is there such a thing as too much notice? Could too much notice backfire?

I applied for a lateral job in a growing group that doesn’t have associates yet. I talked to a sr. associate in a different office/group to get a better sense of the firm’s vibe and we both really enjoyed our call. He kindly offered to recommend an interview to HR. Is there anything else I can do? I would be switching practices altogether so I want to be as proactive as possible to know what I’m getting myself into (and make my app more favorable because I really want to break into the field).
