EY assurance here. Never worked over 60 hrs a week in the 3 years I’ve been here and don’t know anyone else in my group who has either. Just depends on region and service line.
And KPMG1, I’ve seen many job postings with requirements such as “2 busy seasons at big4 accounting firm” so I think having that on your resume does open up more doors.
I would love to work on w/e teams/industry you’re on EY1. My exp is from pacific southwest audit. My story isn’t uncommon there.
Anything in life comes easier with a referral than just applying online. If someone tells you to “just apply through the website,” that’s code for “Sorry (or not sorry), I don’t care enough about you to write a one sentence email with your resume and send it to a recruiter.”
I wasn’t told to apply online lol I was just looking on my own to apply through the website
Yes definitely easier if you have referral.
And I think it’s always good to see what’s out there. Client complexity that I got to see as senior is way different at EY. I feel like at GT it was more boring, but on the plus side I noticed that GT experienced associates/S1’s were way better than EY’s at the same level because they have better fundamentals. Starting manager level I don’t feel like it’s that different because my GT managers/SMs let me do cool things that I think they originally were going to do themselves haha.
Also I was surprised flexibility at EY is actually practiced, vs at GT it was more of a recruiting ploy. BUT I also think it varies from office to office.
Anyway, highly suggest you at least apply/interview and see what’s out there, even if you’re just curious about salary.
