If you have cash that you want to invest. Please consider Treasury Series I Savings Bond (Electronic). Interest is 7.12% right now. While it's not guaranteed that the 7.12% will remain until next year, it's still a good deal.
My SO and I just invested 20k (10k max per person even married).

Could you do that? Yes. Would it be stupid? Also yes.
You can do that but what makes you think you will be able to buy at a lower price? What do you do if it doesn’t go down?
It is possible to later buy VTI once it goes down using the money market fund in IRA and it is also possible to later buy VTI once it goes up.
Okay 🐠’s you have convinced me to not put the money in MMF , as always thank you.
Thanks for the response, never did this before so was just curious.
I just buy VTI every year, was thinking of trying this out this year given how inflated some stocks are right now and I’m not even sure what is driving this surge when growth has been achieved by cutting cost, layoffs and stock buybacks/dividends etc
Not that I do this every year or would do this in future but wanted to try just once which I think won’t make any difference in long term

ZF - no doubt, it shows increased efficiency. Now there will be some limit to how far this can go at a company level. because once profit margins get too high there will be competitors or regulation, but many companies can improve their profit margins.
There’s also a huge untapped demand for additional services (at the right price) For example, many parents would love a full time nanny. Potentially creating millions of jobs.
GDP is only mostly constrained by efficiency.
