Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Large companies should be penalized for so casually dismissing people and damaging their livelihoods
Are you defending a corporation laying off?
Can confirm.
In Denver, just saw large restructuring and several layoffs in my department alone.
Economy is rough.
So raising interest rates and keeping them high seems to be the polar opposite of Quantitative Easing (QE). In fact, QE send to be something done to help the economy such as in 2008-9 and 2020. Hence why, six months ago, most every metric, save inflation, was showing how well the United States' economy was doing. This is even more so when compared to other first world countries.
For better or worse, the last month has shown the economy slowing, if just a bit.
And the answer is: why pay for the milk when you can get it for free. Meaning as Union Jobs have diminished, so to will these jobs. Employers do not want the expense of HR, benefits and the like when they can hire workers from companies who hire talent at lower wages with no benefits. Strap on people. The bread lines are coming back to a workforce near you!
Please elaborate
I am in the NOC in St. Louis, which dept got the axe?
I work out of Charter Commons. I heard the cuts were within Product & Technology. I know at least a couple folks from mobile Ops got the axe, including at least one executive. Another VP in IT was walked out the week before last.
Looking at this and wondering how people believe unemployment is below 4%.
I cant deny that lol
In 20 plus years ears in Telecom, and have laid off three times, most recently with Segra, here in the SE. Two of the previous layoffs happened as a result of two mergers Segra went through, but part of their dr idiom, to include me in their 50 headcount layoff, was certainly my advanced age, or ageism, to put it another way. In 13 months, I STILL haven’t been able to find adequate employment. But, I keep hoping and searching.
This company has been in Denver for the last 10 years or so, and they have always laid off people. They restructure and hire contractors.
Horrible company
We lost a few great people at Riverport...Charter feeds off using more and more H1-B non citizens while laying off us citizens. A friend of mine in another dept was let go, but one of their non citizen peers was still online Friday.
Most of the management should be walked out the door! The place is truly soul crushing. Operations is a joke
I heard they’re doing the same thing in Charlotte, NC.

Most of these contractors are Indians.
Sorry to hear this. I am worried it's coming to Comcast as well.
Has come already! Many were let go today.
Whole bunch of layoffs today in Stamford.
All over I heard. My dept had about 15.
Not surprising. They’ve been hemorrhaging people for years. I still get contacted by recruiters looking to fill positions for their teams and I always tell them “best of luck”
The Greenwood Village, CO location has also been described as a 'bloodbath" with recent layoffs.
They have been laying off Greenwood Village employees in smaller groups, so they are not required to issue "WARN" notices, and give these people advanced notification to the layoffs.
