i have both. CSR is better imo. the points are much more versatile. Amex is really only worth it for the centurion lounges. if you’re only getting one, stick to the CSR.
Yes
Amex are running a promo, 150K points if you spend 6K in 6months, with the other benefits, it makes up for the yearly annual fee.

Pre covid I kept both- but now that I don’t fly as much just kept the csr as the lounges were the main draw of the plat.
For lounges if you have a centurion where you fly from/to its head and shoulder above the rest. But I do enjoy the PP restaurants which you can’t use on plat but can I’m chase.
If you spend on the card CSR by far- prefer the earning structure (3x restaurant /travel), I didn’t spend on my plat. Plus the travel partners are more useful to me but the Amex bonus promos are nice for foreign airlines.
Fee: CSR travel credit is so easy to use vs the play credits. Many of their other credits like saks on the Amex or
Lyft- I ride share a lint so the 10X o Lyft and the credits + status on DoorDash are useful to me.
CSR. I have no idea why anyone would do Amex Plat other than for the signup bonus.
I've been flying on average a RT every other week for the last year. I've only one time (out of probably 20) had to wait at a centurion lounge because it was too crowded to enter, and the wait was only about 10 minutes. I don't count waiting in line while people provide their credentials having to wait because it's too crowded.
Capital One Venture X pays for itself if you want a card that gives you more benefits than the annual fee. Much better in my opinion. I just got it since I also have big spends coming up, can refer if needed, DM me
You can definitely transfer your miles to an airline partner. Not unless, you already have a Chase Unlimited and Chase Flex, then Venture X imo is better than CSR
Platinum card offering 40k more points than CSR right now. Amex = Centurion Lounge, CSR = priority pass - does your home airport have both?
I'm definitely excited about checking out the capital one lounge. But I fly delta, and live in Austin, so I don't know when I'd ever be at dfw.
For now, unless you fly AA/oneworld, or fly into/out of dfw a good amount, I don't think the venturex is a meaningful player for lounge access. The problem is, even if they had the cash to build lounges in more airports, there's simply no space. They're competing with Amex, all three airlines, and other vendors for lounge space. And all those groups are desperately seeking more space to build lounges.
The DEN and IAD lounge openings have already been pushed back once, but hoping for those, maybe I'll fly into/ out of iad every once in a while instead of dca.
I think, based on what I've seen and heard, that capital one did a great job at DFW, so that should help them in proving to airport authorities that they're a safe bet for leasing space, but they're way behind so many other players, that it's going to be difficult for them.
I have the amex plat and its a good one that pays for itself. I have 100k referral bonus if you want it.
Can you share the 150k referral?
I have a referral code for the CSR if you decide on that one. Dm me if you are interested.

Ey2 - for what?
If you foresee traveling at airports that have a Centurion lounge or if your home airport has one, then the AMEX Platinum might make sense.
The Priority Pass of AMEX no longer allows you to enter to Priority Pass Restaurants so keep that in mind.
If you can get a 125k referral bonus, then go ahead.
But in my opinion, if you only travel one or twice a year, the Capital One Venture X is an amazing card! It does pay for itself. $300 travel rebate and 10k bonus miles each anniversary year.
EY 1, Completely forgot to mention how VX does give free 4 Priority Passes for free — which is unheard off.
Go for Venture X
