It’s my favorite! I’m going to the grocery store and checking out gift card options. Groceries get 5x points right now. Then, I can wipe out that with a statement credit for 7.5% return!
You should be ok if the merchant doesn’t send L3 data regularly to visa or Amex
You also earn 5X points on grocery purchases till end of June.
Buy yourself variable reload Visa cards of $500 each (or lower if you have already spent some on groceries) or other gift cards like target if you use else where. Essentially 7.5% effective discount.
For visa gift cards partially offset by activation fee but can be used universally.
That is the max you can load on a gift card for the same transaction fee.
Redeemed 80k points, I think it’s good redemption and nothing is better than cash if you aren’t planning any international business travel to get crazy redemption rates
Can you elaborate on the last part? What do you mean you don’t lose them after redeeming
Thats correct. Still keep the points on purchase you redeem as credit. Makes this option strictly better the travel portal...
You still lose the points
I just dumped my 30k of points to get rid of 300 of my credit card debt. Would rather be debt free than save for another vacation right now...
Oh, no, I’m not, I already used my travel credit for my year
Anyone knows if Target counts as supermarket/grocery for the 5x?
But you can buy a target gift card at a grocery store like Kroger and effectively achieve the same result .
The way I read it you lose the points you earn on the charge you are canceling with your points. Did I read that wrong?
Yes you read it wrong. You earn and keep points in the redemption.
OP, Can you please explain what the credit benefit is? I’m a little confused
