I don’t know the answer, but this is so cute! I would have loved that as a kid. Hope you have a great time.
The coolest thing to ever happen to me at a hotel as a very young person was going to one of those rooftop restaurants that spin
This is so awesome and she's going to remember a special night with her parent no matter what.
I haven't been to the Gwen but I know places like the Ritz if you call in advance will do a special welcome for her like a towel animal, a picture of something she likes, or something else fun.
Rising Star
My grandma always loved the Drake, and that fascination wore off on me. She would tell me all the stories about having tea in the lobby, etc. I wish we could’ve done that together one time.
Rising Star
The Drake or the Hilton on Michigan Ave. or the Palmer House would be the best choices if she likes old-school fancy with lots of gilt & velvet.
If you want something fun to do, take her to the penguin meet & greet at the Shedd Aquarium or the Lincoln Park Zoo. You get to go up close & personal with them and they are so cute!!
Did this with my daughter in NY at age 6. Did the St. Regis and realized that any of the hotels in Ny would have been just as exciting. The Gwen and the Ritz are both fine (Ritz probably has more bling). I would do the one that cost fewer points
Nothing to say except this is a great parenting move, love it
The Four Seasons is awesome for kids, ice cream cart, mini robes, etc. Drake has the Holiday wow factor. Can’t go wrong with either.
Stayed a significant number of nights at both the Gwen and the Ritz. The Ritz rooms are nicer. As an Ambassador, I've gotten rooms on lobby level at Gwen vs Lake View or better at Ritz.
If you have status, Ritz will treat you much better than Gwen.
Ritz also has bellman etc. Wow factor for your child will be much greater.
I love this and also love how excited everyone is for your kindergartener! Have SO much fun!
Chicago ritz is not that impressive from what I saw
I think the Ritz has a pool versus Gwen does not…if that matters at all
Pro
Ritz is probably more wow factor for a kid. That said, I prefer The Gwen. LondonHouse is very cool too if you're open to Hilton.
Thanks all! Just booked a suite at the Ritz with points!
Try the Langham. It’s all pink and beautiful and the rooms are lovely
I think the lack of the lobby would impact kindergartner experience. Minimalist design is sort of lost on them
Rising Star
I’d rather take her to the Renaissance with the river view.
The langham has the nicest rooms but is not Marriott
Ritz is next with Gwen a very close third. Ritz has a nicer Christmasy lobby than the Gwen at the moment.
Finally the Gwen is cheaper but still “posh”
That’s adorable! I’m sure she will have a blast
Win win. Either of these will hit the bar in terms of wowing her. Ritz has that stunning view of the lake and will prob edge Gwen in terms of in room dining. Gwen will have sparkly views of mag mile and is connected to the “nicer” mall (Nordstrom connected to Gwen via covered sky walk). Enjoy!!

Chicago needs an Edition. Thé Noir 29. 😍
i love the chicago ritz! see if they will let you do high tea or something. we did that when i was 10 and it was the coolest thing

I will say, imo, Fairmont has better tea. That's one of the signature elements of the brand.
