I would be very careful. Unless it’s a B2B business with a significant digital presence (which it doesn’t sound it like it has, given your C&IP description), the CTO has no real power in the organization. That will have some very real consequences for you: the Chief of Staff position will be a staffer to a staff role, which will make potentially make you a paper-pusher for back end work.
This may not be the case, but think carefully (and honestly) about the business model and influence that the CTO would have in that model.
My point is that if the decisions made by the CTO are not strategic in nature (which they generally are not anyway, and this is only made more acute by the industry the company is in), you won’t actually have a particularly good view of how top-level decisions are made, which is the point of taking a staff function in a company. If this is the case and I were in your shoes, I would wait to find a more traditional strategy and operations role rather than risking becoming a glorified EA for a back-office executive.
Of course, do your own due diligence; I’m simply pointing out the possible power dynamics at play.
I took a similar role 4 months ago ( Chief of Staff to the CEO) and I love it. As opposed to building decks, I spend my days with the members of our c-suite. To date, I’ve helped build our 2019 strategy, run company-wide meetings, built our new CSR strategy, etc.
How in the world? So you’re like a consultant level?
That's a great point A1 and would make sense why they wouldn't be looking at a more senior person. Would it not be worthwhile at least being in the same room and understanding how decisions are made, strategy set forth, etc at the C suite level? Beats doing staffer work for clients many rubgs removed from that level
If you like the company, do it. If you want to leave after 3 years, nehh

Yes C. Medium sized, fast growing company. About 100-150 IT resources, 6 direct reports reporting up to him so not sure how that compares to other companies - felt it was smaller from an IT presence
Wow congrats! How’d you get that opportunity? Would love to speak with you if you have a burner? #curious
