“You want me to promote on my personal social media? Oh I don’t have one”
“Oh I’m not a content creator/I don’t have a public account/I only have a burner”
“Oh I’m not doing paid media on my personal accounts at this time”
Yes! Would love to! I have packages that start as low as $20k/post, let me know if that is within your budget and happy to send more info.
“Ok!” and then just don’t do it.
While I do love the instant response of some variant of “pay me!”, there is a danger. That is, they may actually be willing to pay you to do it.
I’m going to infer that the relationship isn’t absolutely wonderful, so I’m not sure if they’d be willing to have an adult conversation about it. But I’d say just be straight with them. Say “I’m not an influencer, I’m not on the corporate social media team, and my personal accounts are personal. Is this something that you intend to make part of my job? If it is, there needs to be a proper framework in place, and just having me use my personal accounts isn’t it.”
Just tell them that you keep your personal account separate from your work account. Think, a separation between church and state.
