Hello All, I have offer in hand of 27.5 LPA+15% variable from ZS Associates as a BT Solutions delivery consultant and now my current company is ready to retain me by matching the offer & assuring that they will send me onsite to UK in couple of months. Now I am in a dilemma of what to do as I have been looking for onsite opportunities for my entire career so far. Kindly share your thoughts. You’re gonna be doing the same work at both. I’d take the cash
Had a similar situation and just presented the facts to company 1. Said listen, I’m rooting for you guys being the company that comes out on top here, but I just can’t accept 14% less for realistically probably less work. They said they couldn’t come up to what company #2 was offering but post covid would try and make it worth my while. I pushed back on that saying I won’t accept future promises anymore after being dicked by Big 4 for years, and they ended up splitting the difference and the offer i took ended up ~7% lower than company #2 AND with improved terms for the stock options
I would either bail now or wait until Manager. I have been getting calls for Assistant Controller roles as a S3 with comp $120-$140 + 10% bonus. I didn’t even jump for that. Just perspective
Decided it wasn’t worth the jump as I really want to be in more of a strategy role. I’m in FDD so comp was good but not way more then my +1-2 yr. salary. I want to wait to jump where I can get a bump that would advance me at least 3 years out vs staying at EY
Did you try negotiating salary already? If not, definitely do and see if they can come up to match salary of the other.
For what it’s worth, I took a pretty massive pay-cut to take my dream job at one of my dream companies (sports industry) vs. biotech previously and it’s been 100% worth it. Being excited and passionate about what you’re doing and who you’re working for makes the money not matter as much.
What city are you in?
Why did you want to work for #1 in the first place? Not everything is about money, but also consider that many companies are hurting right now.
What do you prioritize; pay or work culture? What are the opportunities for promotion/moving into next role after these positions?
Have you tried negotiating with company one for more money? Doesn't hurt to ask!
Yes. Unfortunately the best #1 could do was add a $5k signing bonus
Which city? Are you CPA?
Are benefits equal? Health care, PTO, and 401k? Sounds like you like company #1 but they don't pay their employees the market rate.
Ask them to match the other salary
Have you considered telling company 1 about company 2’s offer?
The first question you should be asking is if it is the right time for you to move out of Big 4...
Hmmm. Not part of that company so can’t comment.
I would agree that it is always the right time as long as you are not enjoying what you do on a daily basis. If you feel satisfied with your work at the end of every day, then definitely a good question to ask before jumping ship.
