Hey guys! So I have a Top Secret Clearance and recently joined Amazon in a position that doesn’t require it. Would Amazon offer to host my clearance considering that they are looking for multiple people with this type of clearance? I’m open to cleared work but was hired for a commercial Strategy and just not sure if I should bring it up? Thought?

Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

As someone who's worked for both Google and Amazon my experience was they each have their pros and cons that each suit different people better or worse.
Google
Great work life balance, good perks, good incentive to stay but I felt my work at Google lacked ownership and was often small parts of projects dictated from the US.
Amazon
Good ownership, work felt more meaningful with more autonomy, chose what I worked on and what was important, free reign to fix anything I seemed broken. No real perks, poor comp structure that gives you little incentive to stay past 2 years and definitely no incentive to stay past 4 years. Poor pay increases across the years. Slightly higher total comp but you have to work a little more for it.
Overall if I was given the two options again at the same time i would choose Amazon due to the fact it gave me more work satisfaction but that's purely down to what motivates me personally.

How big is the lift? Amazon pays well the first two years but you don’t get as many refreshers and their retirement contribution is 0. Also what role/Pa?
Amazon will be a step down long term in every way. Comp, culture, wlb. I'd stay at google unless the work is really that much better
Do you like the sound of the role/team? I'd consider true comp difference too.
If you're excited after this next conversation, I say go for it! It's only a year. And you have a great reason to leave Amazon after that year...
