As a former Guidehouser, I’d recommend applying to B4. The GH brand doesn’t give you a boost based on name recognition. I had a successful exit based on my personal network (I.e. friends). My experience with Guidehouse was toxic, including both bullying and sexual harassment.
M1, my line was toxic as well. Left immediately. It’s a wonder that the firm hasn’t imploded by now.
I exited from GH to industry, doing consulting/professional services for a large tech company and got like a 25% increase. Best decision ever! There are other consulting-type gigs outside of B4, if that kind of environment no longer appeals to you. I echo all comments about about it being a toxic environment and terrible place to work - don’t do it.
Really surprised at all these allegations of toxic work culture. It’s not something that I’ve experienced or heard of while working here. Can you share some examples? Is it endemic to one segment in particular?
Big 4 definitely there as well other major consulting firms and smaller firms that pay significantly more. I know a few people who have exited tech as well. It really depends on your experience.
If you're gonna leave, make sure you're making at least $20k more.
Coming from Big 4, it’s a different world out there but I’m definitely thinking of going back. As for pay, industry-wide you’ve gotta jump around to get more. I sat at a firm for five years thinking they’d adjust, left and got more than I would’ve ever received. Most firms’ talent acquisition pools of cash are larger than their talent retention pools
I’d say the GH brand is weak for now but I’m waiting until I get to a more senior position before I exit. A SC at Guidehouse doesn’t have much weight behind it. Big 4 also will match your position at GH and I suspect it may be easier to rise at GH in comparison. Good luck in your decision!
Had an offer from D, a tech startup, also struck an interview with MBB through network, so def possible. Just have to position yourself in a way that’s marketable and network hard to a better brand
