To be fair, I wouldn’t have read that email.
I’m too busy on zoom meetings.
You know it’s an email if every camera is off and only a couple people are talking.
I lead a small team and organise company DEI projects, which has revealed some rules to help with this:
1) Every meeting has an agenda. Your peers might’ve just dealt with a crying kid, give them the courtesy of a cheat sheet about the meeting.
2) Every agenda item gets 5-10 min. If an item takes less than 5 min to address, it’s an email. I also can identify what’s realistic to cover.
3) Email, anyway. Remote work often can mean better life balance, but COVID means life is especially demanding. Detailed meeting notes help if folks couldn’t be 100% present.
Telling someone something is fine via email, but collaborating to get shit done quickly is often better as a call/zoom.
