Hello Mastercard employees. I have been trying to break into MC for long now.
I have 2 yrs workex post MBA. I have experience in data analysis and consulting. But I don't want to get into consulting anymore. I am looking for analytics roles. Anyone here would be able to DM and guide me on the available options at Mastercard?

Possible, sure. But the pivot is unrelated to your MBA, so why not pivot now? There aren’t usually SWE roles as part of campus recruiting at many MBA schools for internships, so you may have to search in your own and you’d perhaps be competing against undergrads. That said, SWE is a bit more than knowing Python, and SQL isn’t really “programming”, just data queries. For more, automation is hot now, and uses MBA/strategic thinking to identify and design. Perhaps something like UiPath implementation?

In the US you’d be dead in the water for SWE, not sure about Europe. Generally Python and SQL aren’t cutting for high end programming. I’m just another face in the business world and I know those two.
You’ll want to grind leetcode problems and see where you stand on the varying difficulties. SWE interviews these days put a lot of weight on them, and a ton of practice there will be beneficial. Python and SQL are solid languages, but to truly get into software engineering you’ll want to expand into more languages, possibly front end frameworks like angular or node. ML stuff from my understanding can be really challenging too, you’ll really want to understand discrete math and algorithms
Absolutely. From what I’ve seen/heard ML engineers at minimum have specialized masters in comp sci/math, and yes especially phd’s for that kind of work
