Why would you not be able to switch to PE after MBB? MBB sends tons of people to PE at the post-undergrad level
Obviously PE my friend. Good luck
You can go to PE from MBB. Bunch of my class went to pretty large PE shops
Really not intending this as a humble brag, no guarantees I will get into either of these opportunities but want to know how I should prioritize
I would look into boutiques if you are that good and young.
Both great opportunities and you can’t go wrong. Think about the long term and how it will impact your life. Do you want to live in the PE world or do you have aspirations of the c-suite later in your career. How strong are your core skills? There is more value to having MBB on your resume, and despite what you think now, there may be more of an opportunity to move to a bulgePE from MBB than a tier MM firm.
What’s your passion/priorities? Money?
Get through the process with both and decide when you really have /seem like will have an offer
Personally wasn’t impressed with most MM PE shops. Depended on the shop, but mostly you’ll be doing all the grunt work again - interviews, model inputs, etc. and any future career growth will likely be in finance (because other roles won’t pay as well for your skillset)
I’d go with MBB - but just my 2cents
Thanks for the advice all.
To answer the MBB -> PE question: I’m currently 2 years in at T2, will be 2.5 by the time I start at any MBB firm. Have heard pre-MBA PE firms don’t really take in consultants past the 3rd year, so it seems like this would really limit my PE recruiting options (wouldn’t leave a good track record to quit an MBB firm after 6 months)
