Do you have some experience with automated controls and/or ITGCs?
I break down IT audit into two areas. There can be nuances with first year SOX and speciality SOC 2 and FedRAMP engagements. But, the workpapers may not change-
ERP SOX Testing: Testing the automated configurations and integration of data used in financial reporting (ITACs, SDLC, and some GITCs)
Technology infrastructure: Testing the automated and manual IT systems and information security. This would be testing privileged access for database and operating systems (mainframes, linux, and windows). Also, it would include physical security.
The latter would require more IT knowledge. However, ISACA has guides you can use to obtain knowledge in the subject. Also, NIST 800-53 is online for free and includes mappings of what controls are required.
Let me know if any questions!
Most likely an A2. It would be unfair to you to ask you to lead walkthroughs of concepts you’ve never worked with before
Makes sense, thanks for the response
What’s your total comp?
90k HCOL
I switched from tax as an A2 and stayed that level. But I'm guessing you might have to transfer to a staff 2 instead of senior, which in the long run is not a big deal. However, I will say really research what IT Audit is because now as an S3, I'm working towards a completely different career path. Honestly, if you do not like tax, you may not like IT Audit either, so make sure you do your research into what it ACTUALLY is and the limited exit opportunities.
I’m honestly looking for a job that’s easy (boring is fine) and allows an exit to industry with a good WLB and IT Audit seemed like the best choice. What career path are you working towards?
