Unfortunately yes. Interviewed with them about a year ago as a M2 in Strategy they offered me 145k salary - got them up to $160 but they noted at that salary level bonuses would be limited. They are nice people but they aren't going to give you the $$$.
OP - what's your current base/bonus?
Wow...fun times on this thread. @op. I am former acn (along w about 1/3 of slalom).
I dont know which city you are in but lets help you get the most money and position yourself the best.
1. Aim for consultant principle. Their base pay is anywhere from 165-185 starting. Their quarterly bonus is 3500-7500 and their annual bonus 15-25k easily.
Responsibility wise they have tge same goals as an acn exp. Mgr to new senior mgr. At this level you will be expected to answer rfps, lead projects, and help build offerings. Basically you know what you are doing.
2. Very very few of our projects are staff aug. Id venture to say that we have less staff Aug projects that acn has mindless check the box projects. This crap comes from where slalom started. We started as a man shop and pivoted to doing our consulting work about 8-10 years ago.
3. The clients we serve are the same as acn...we have the same big clients as them. But we also can serve smaller clients. Smaller clients are fun because they are more appreciative, easier to work with and are more likely to implement your ideas.
4. If you want the most money - you will need to talk about growing a practice, thought leadership and them you will need to talk about stuff that shows that you are not full of shit.
5. If you want the most money you will have to join a group that is looking for leaders.
They would give you smiles as pay check
No travel. Got married. Easier life. Can settle a bit more. I know it's like 2 rungs down and will likely be not interesting but it's a day job ?
There's better industry jobs that are more interesting and pay better
Yes OP, what do you make currently? They might give you a 15%-20% bump.
Well, I would be making $160 come December hopefully. Assuming my promotion goes through. Should I say $180 base?
@manager1 are you from Accenture? Did you take it? I think they don't have an idea of what the market for strategists is...
Op why would you switch from Accenture strat to slalom? Their work is not going to be interesting at all
And you're taking a title and salary cut to do it...
The work is staff Aug
I'm hoping to not take a salary cut...idk how they attract talent otherwise.
OP, no offense but $200K as a consultant is even high for MBB. They will show you the door.
OP I am from ACN and no I didn't take it - I think they know the market, but don't want to pay it. I'm at M3 now in Strategy looking for SM this year. Local sounds nice, but financially couldn't do it.
OP, if you want local, you should be able to get it at ACN. Why not do that instead of slalom?
