Currently working on Certifications for IT, I'm just curious on how people look into jobs in tech. From a newbie perspective it seems like networking (like most jobs) are the best way to go about it. Or do you just do trial and error and hope something lands?

Networking only gets you so far.

If a job opening requires certifications, most employers will ask for proof.

Just like if you have an MBA, got to show your transcripts.

If Certifications are just nice to have on opening, then Networking does help...a ton.

Never really did any Networking but I’ve gotten lucky with Indeed. I also look up jobs/careers straight from companies websites. So whenever I pass buildings with a company I’m unfamiliar of, I look it up and their careers page.

Does anyone have any advise on how to become a staff video editor at a creative production company? They usually don't have any "job openings" listed on their site.

I have 5+ years of experience working at a creative ad agency, but much of the work was pitch/sizzle videos (yuck).

I'm freelancing now which has been a great step in the right direction but I'd eventually love to be on staff at a post house like The Den, Cut+Run, Company 3 etc. pumping out cool work. Just seems hard to break in.

I am thinking about making a switch to a top 10 PA firm and sticking it out until manager and then reevaluating a move to industry. Hi fishes, I have 2 offers-
Thermo Fisher for Data Engineer in AWS and Python and Ameriprise as Lead Developer for Informatica Powercenter. Ameriprise is offering 50k more in my monthly salary than Thermo Fisher. My preference is to join in where I can grow and get a good learning for future career growth. Also, work life balance should be good in the organization.
Please help me with making a clear decision. And i have 8+ YOE.

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize

Hi all, was hoping for clarity on offers from FANG/Tier 2 tech I received recently. Base pay is still within range of 130-150K, but equity components have dropped dramatically. For reference, for similar positions, I was receiving grants of 150K - 200K over 4 years for data analyst positions (4-5 YOE) in Aug’21-Feb’22. For personal reasons, I did not accept these offers. Now the equity grants are coming in like 50-70K over 4 years. Is this market wide for non SWE/PM roles due to stock market?
