I’m about to go on mat leave! Here is the breakdown.
- Week 1 is PTO (waiting period). Regardless if you give birth or not you have to take PTO. If you don’t have PTO, you go unpaid, so save up!
- Weeks 2-7 is STD (6 weeks for natural and 8 for C section)
- Weeks 5/7- up to 24 weeks max is Deloitte paid family leave (they give you 16 weeks which can be used all at once like in this example or can be split up over the course of a calendar year if you choose).
Thanks and congratulations!!!🍾🎉🎊
4 months paid parental leave. Remainder is short term disability
Is the entire 6 months for after birth or do you get 1 month before birth and 5 after?
My dr didn’t want to sign any docs prior to birth because she said I don’t need leave unless there is a complication
Short term disability is in addition to the 6 months of May leaves as far as I know and have seen my women team members take.
I’m currently on leave. It’s is 6-8 weeks std depending on delivery.
Then it’s 16 weeks of paid family leave. So it’s not exactly 6 months.
I’m not sure about taking it before the birth - I haven’t known anyone to do that.
Yes - and first week of STD you use PTO
How long do you have to work for Deloitte to qualify for the 16 weeks?
Correction: there is not a minimum eligibility period. For most D roles, you are eligible right away from hire date. Source: currently pregnant, joined D (consulting) in August, will go on full mat leave in March.
There are some states with different rules so make sure you check out what it is for where you live. In CA, the first week is PTO, the STD (how long depends on C section or not), then family leave. You can tack on more PTO at the end if you had a shorter STD due to vaginal birth.
