Deloitte now has a "Chief Inclusion Officer"... What a bunch of nonsense...

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. Inclusion creates a diverse set of opinions which are incredibly important to bring to the table

like

So... you have a gay friend. That’s really where you are going to go with this? Do you have a black friend too?

You understand that the fact that you as a straight white man have “never noticed a problem” with inclusion is literally the point and the reason the position is needed, I hope?

Let's not attack each other and see why people think the way they do--lol ironically that seems to be the opposite of inclusion. Speaking as a minority male

like

A4 your argument is like saying projects shouldn’t have Change Management because the functional leads are capable of communicating change and conducting training. (Just an example, not implying one is more important than the other.)

While technically true, it’s an infeasible plan as a functional consultants primary role is to put the solution together and they will put the Change stuff on the back burner.

like

I’m a minority and I also think a chief inclusion officer title is stupid. I am not a victim, and don’t need someone in the c suite advocating for me. My capabilities and the value I bring to my firm advocate for me just fine.

like

A7 - you are an idiot if you think it’s about protecting the victim and not a sound business decision based on market data

A8 - read the whole thread before commenting you points have already been shown as moot several posts ago

likehelpful

A1, not being very inclusive, are you?

like

I mean even if you aren’t a minority you can’t really be dense enough not to realize the data favors diversity to help your bottom line.

Everyone is complaining about “diversity being shoved down” their throat -> it’s the economy dumbass, business only cares about the bottom line. Get with it or get left behind

A2 you somehow out-whooshed OP on this one. Congrats, I guess?

like

SC1 maybe talk to folks who do see it as an issue, have experienced it as an issue, and saw fit to create a C-suite position for it?

like

Keep your biases out of your brain and read the chat again. You’re smart enough to get it! Best of luck

like

Well, I am a minority. All my family are then of course minorities as well. And my friends are a huge mix of different types of races (I grew up in Queens so I literally had friends of every creed, color, etc.). I don’t know anyone who talks about how his or her race has held them back from anything they’ve tried to accomplish.

like

I’m black and do think this SJW nonsense has gone too far.

like

Man...looks like the rebuttal post was deleted. Seemed good though.

likesmart

Thanks for the insult A1. I think hiring minorities IS a sound business decision, but I don’t think creating a C Level title is going to accomplish anything. I think minorities can find their way into consulting without advocates.

likesmart

I saw A7 was a minority in an earlier post. Was genuinely interested in opinion of colleagues/friends/family. Not feeling the 🔥

like

Wholeheartedly agree with P1.

like

C1- yes, I am confused that on a post involving I&D of all things some find it acceptable to make bigoted remarks. Care to explain that irony? Short sentences, please.

like

Key term is ‘should’ ...but they don’t and can’t and organizations need a focused effort and a voice at the table to drive it

like

It is but HR ultimately takes direction from the C-suite and putting a chief officer in charge of inclusion and diversity means that topic has a voice when overall strategy is being set.

It’s basically a way to ensure I&D has a presence in discussions on where the business goes.

like

I can’t stand threads like this. +1 for reasons my generation has huge issues. Who cares?!

Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.

Gay man who works in a large org that is big on diversity and inclusion efforts. I’d say about 50-60% of people (at all levels, across all age groups and races) list their gender pronouns in email signature. I list mine because I see it as a way to show support for colleagues who may not be cisgender. If anyone else works in the same type of environment, do you infer anything about colleagues who choose not to list their gender pronouns? (such as they are homo/trans phobic?)

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗

Been for a company for over 2years. The executive team is very much a boy's club. There are a few women in management roles but zero ethnicity diversity there. I raised my concern to HR in feb. And they are just now deciding to do something about it. They want me (white female) to put together a diversity committee. Any suggestions on how to go about it? How to attract volunteers to the committee? I want to make sure I get the right people involved in this, to push for changes.
