You can specialize at BCG right off the bat. A lot of experienced hires do. BCG is a much better brand with a much better pay trajectory than Deloitte. At the very least, you should go through the interview process and then compare offers once you secure BCG. You might feel differently at that time.
BCG will pay better and you're likely being recruited for a specific practice area
As a principal most likely as a partner definitely.
Is Boston Consulting a basketball team? Definitely D, big 4 green dot energy

Bcg and it’s not close
If didn’t go Harvard , don’t join Deloitte.
Depends how you want to spend your nights and weekends, if working, then choose BCG.
Otherwise, I recommend Deloitte. Great offer and better wlb, can’t go wrong.
(You still put in the hours at D, but not like BCG).
Depends a lot on the market/geography- I’ve seen specialist ex industry seniors to work on different areas from their specialty because there were not enough clients available that could afford bcg. As Deloitte commands much lower rates you will be able to specialize more as there are more clients in a specific area that can afford to do a project with you
(E.g. Financial Industry Associate Director working on Public/Government projects)

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll continue the interview process with BCG if they can get to offer stage in two weeks or less. The Deloitte offer is too good to pass up otherwise.
Consulting is a mirage. The team you liked may not be the team you get to work with. BCG is the way to go. Better brand and pay.
Deloitte sometimes makes promises they can’t keep. They tell people they’ll let them focus on xyz but sometimes is not possible.
What D2 is saying can be true for lower levels but at SM level, you decide what you do, and who you do it with. You have to build a business, you will own the client relationship and also be responsible for the delivery.
What's your current offer TC?
