Entitled? No. Like A1 said, this isn’t the EU. Passenger rights are abysmal in the US.
But if you politely ask for a goodwill gesture, you will get miles or a voucher (be clear which one you’re asking for)

Amount varies by status and length of interruption.
I prefer vouchers as they count towards elite qualification. Benefit of miles is usage on partner airlines

Complain and you’ll get miles. There is a clause in your ticket agreement that states there is a possibility of being delayed or canceled or something like that. But like I said, complain and you’ll get miles

The airlines would go broke if they gave money for all delays of this length. The number of times I have been stuck overnight with no compensation…….

They will give you nothing if it is weather.
If it’s overnight and mechanical/crew, you’ll get a hotel.
Are you in the latter scenario and still left stranded? That’s surprising
