Hey, all the world's a stage, right? That's just the way it goes, we have to perform a bit at times. Getting along in office cultures sometimes requires us to wear a mask that hides our true selves. I don't think there's anything really wrong with it, we just do need some degree of faking it to keep things running smoothly, I suppose.
I suppose you are right. It’s not just IB, it’s everywhere I guess.
At work, I talk to everyone, always cracking jokes, and am a team player always ready to jump in and help. At home, I'm quiet, bookish and dislike interaction. The job has ended and the outgoing me is no longer required. But I wouldn't say that these two sides of my personality are fake. It's just what's required to get the job done in the way that works best for everyone involved.
Yes and no… it really depends on the culture at your firm, team, and people around you. Office politics are a real thing everywhere… sometime you have a where a different face to get ahead.
Now, i’m not saying you HAVE to do this… just that it may be a necessary evil for you to get ahead.
For sure and I have accepted that. I got to do whatever is necessary.

I never fake it. I’m smart and my work should speak for itself. Faking it is for people who don’t know anything and have to fake it and continue faking it forever
Good for you my friend. everyone is different.
I think there's some truth to it even just because it gives you confidence if you "fake it" rather than just acting like a newb all the time. I think faking it til you make it is more for yourself so you don't get weighed down by self doubt as you're trying to accomplish something. That's how I've always understood it at least
Thanks Manger1!
