The barrier to entry is very low and most add little or no value to the process now with sites like Zillow. Seems like a dying occupation imo but some say the same about accountants so who knows…
I have to disagree that they add little or no value. I just bought a house and couldn’t have got the house we got for the lowest possible price without the realtor. I have a friend who tried to sell their home without a realtor to save some money, it ended up costing them an extra 20k through some trickery they didn’t understand which wouldn’t have happened with a realtor advising them. As a experienced professional yourself you shouldn’t underestimate the importance of experience and specialisation in a given area.
Yes. But screw them
First, I know a few agents who have done really well. Second, each of these people is very hard working and is an excellent sales person who I actually think provides real value to their client. I was skeptical, like others in this thread, but have been converted by working with an agent who really knew the market in an area where I’ve now bought and sold two homes. He had an extensive network of other professionals from cleaning people, to lawyers that we were also able to leverage. As others said- there is a low barrier to entry and plenty of realtors who basically just do open houses and post listings, but there are some who really do earn their commissions and provide a lot of value to their clients.
Real estate agents are mostly overpaid for what they provide. Some are good but are they really worth 3%?
No
Extremely competitive because of the low barriers of entry
IMO people look down on RE bc of the low barrier of entry, so basically anyone can “become a real estate agent.” But if you’re actually successful and make a good living, I don’t think they’re looked down upon much more than other occupations.
make your money dude, who cares what people think
You'll be much more satisfied in life if you forget about what anyone else thinks about you and do the kind of work that you want to do because you think it will be rewarding.
Idk but I’ve thought about it too. I think it would be really fun.
Real estate agents are trusted less than recruiters in most polls!! But not as bad as car sales or insurance
Easy very to get into, tons of agents made millions during 2020-2022 period
Why would you get in now? You’ll be listing something you know is not going to sell, only to reduce the ask and get an angry buyers and reduced take home. Missed that opportunity IMO, there’s a reason a lot of lenders are laying off employees.
Don’t worry about perception. Do what’s right for you
Who cares what other people think. If you’re able to make a career in something that is interesting to you it’s worth considering.
Why does that matter in your choice. Don’t worry about the perception. Do what you thinks going to support you and your family.
Social media isn’t real life. That’s where this thought comes from! Enjoy yourself with the people around you.
