30? Wtf that’s like going to work every 10 days. Most of my friends are at EY and I’m very confused why you guys have so much unassigned time. My buddy works till like 7-8 in the summer while there’s resources unassigned chilling in the office
Yeah. Like I’ve always reached out to my seniors asking for work. But Idk, ive just never been given so much to do. I only found out about utilization recently and have been trying to get it up, but without artificially padding my hours I find it very hard to have so may chargeable hours. I’ve been asked about my low utilization by a partner and o explained this to him. He seemed satisfied with this response but I just feel like I’m constantly looking over my shoulder now. Not sure if I’m just over thinking this

I’ll be fine this time around. I mean how in the heck could someone even get a bad rap in 2 months on the job anyway? It takes some people 2 weeks just to learn where the bathroom is. Look alive next year though - 80%+
What service line? I tend to see this more in tax since we outsource so much staff work to India.
They won’t suddenly give you the boot, but they will tell you it’s too low and ask why you haven’t taken steps to get it up to expectations.
You are a tax staff and it is tax busy season.....there is work....go find it.
It’s Tax busy season. You should ask for work. I work with staff in our office that started more recently than you and have been working 50+ since they started and there are also staff in the office sitting around with 30 hours. Very easy to set yourself apart in a bad way if you don’t ask for work and the work is going to every staff who has the initiative to ask. People say it’s ok because it’s your first year... but it’s very hard to break these first impressions. Ask every day if you have to

I would say if you are the only staff with low utilization that it could be a potential red flag... if not, then it’s a office wide issue, that you most likely won’t get penalized. What % full utilization are you?
