Outdoor by a mile. Giant Meyer lemon tree, about 100ft^2 of vegetable garden, and about 200ft^2 of (somewhat neglected) ornamentals in areas too shady for vegetables.
Indoors I have a few small pots of herbs, green onions, and an amaryllis I received as a gift.
Zone is the foggy side of San Francisco, which is 10b by frost date (no frost in decades), but summers never crack 80. Bit of a weird climate for plants.
Pumpkins and zucchini grow very well here, I got 40lbs of delicious pie pumpkin from one plant last year (it took over like half the growing area). Sweet corn does surprisingly well, too, but needs help with pollination. Tomatillos produce tons of fruit. Kale and the cabbage family plants are pretty reliable, but the cabbage aphids can be hard to keep under control. Garlic grows ok, but likes colder winter temperatures than we have. (I've screened over a dozen hardneck varieties and found only a couple that reliably produce full-sized heads.)
I've tried growing lots of other stuff (doing potatoes this year) but those are the ones I've had the most success with.
I grow tomatoes but not particularly successfully. The plants easily reach 6' high, big beautiful plants covered in flowers, but our nights are mostly too cold for them to set fruit, so the yield is usually poor.
Houseplants. I have about 65 indoor plants and only 2 outdoors. The level of effort to maintain indoor plants is much lower.
I also find it easier to maintain plants indoors. Might just because the summer gets super hot where I live
A few indoor herbs and hundreds of outdoor plants, from my native meadow
Right now about the same. I have limited outdoor space so can't have any more. About 40 and 40
