I don’t share my salary.
I also don’t lie about it.
If a potential new employer is asking about my current salary, then I lie about it because they deserve to be lied to.
A persons salary is none of others business. No wonder majority would lie

Phew. I thought 20 yo fresh out of school on FB was making 500k with great benefits and WLB. Turns out, it’s only half of them.
I don’t ask anyone’s salary just to avoid revealing my own. I know it causes more harm than any good to know each other’s salaries.

How does it harm ?
When I was a junior interviewing for better jobs I would add $5-15k so I could ask for a better salary at the new job.
But never in a situation with friends or coworkers lol that’s weird
It comes as a cultural shock for someone from Asia. We have statistics each year among several firms in the same industry and it kinda forces the employers to compete on payrolls or else they see high turnover rate next year
I know it’s taboo to talk salary but I think it’s good for people finding out what they can get and deserve!
I understated my salary so the person asking doesn't feel bad
I don’t talk to my peers about my salary. I don’t care to know how much they make, and I don’t want them to know how much I make.
