Sometimes. It’s good for a benchmark but also look at competitive companies and talk to recruiters, ask them for their take

It definitely helps directionally but the ranges for roles are huge swings so you just need to take into account years of experience and anomalies when looking at those salaries.

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. Some good news after almost 11 months of applying and interviews and lots of rejections finally got an offer! In NYC small firm, ex big law folks, no billable hours, niche practice area, appearance of forwarded thinking firm, remote till who knows when, emphasis on pro bono initiatives and building book of business. The catch salary. Was making around 140k at last firm with 1800 billable. Offer is 85k and revist to bump to around 100k in several months after review (plus discretionary bonus)

Just curious, what’s the norm salary for a insurance defense attorney? Passed the bar in 2019, and salary at current firm is 75K for 1850/year… which I feel is a little low. I’m coming up on a year with this firm, and I’m really happy with the place— but would obviously like to make more money given that I’m getting married.

Question for you all: Left D to Company A for a 50% raise in TC and slated to start in <1 week. However, just got an offer at Company B for a 100% raise in TC compared to D, or 30% raise in TC compared to company A. Both firms do similar work but B provides a more solid comp package. Job duties would be relatively similar. Is the % jump worth burning the bridge? Would have chosen Company B if the offer came sooner but the % difference in A to B is at my [personal] 30% threshold. TIA!

Need a gut check here. Got an offer from Deloitte for $7k (~9%) more than I currently make at the same consultant level. Doesn’t seem reasonable to make that jump for no title increase and not a huge salary increase, right?

Stuck and need advice. Had been gearing up for a 3 day arbitration. I've done 70% of the work and senior partner just started stepping in as the hearing got closer. Also have my final interview for a new job this week and was told I'll have the offer. Plan was to put in notice, 2nd chair the hearing then start new job. Today, arbitrator postponed the hearing but without setting a new date. Want the new job, but feel bad leaving partner to do arb at some unknown point in the future. Thoughts?
